Phase 1 – Chicks and laying hens

The donation project during the Corona-Pandemic is organized in different phases to support members as soon as possible, while going on collecting donations.

We are happy to inform you that we have carried out the first phase already, which was chicks and laying hens for the members. In total 14 families were given laying hens (4 hens for each family, including chicken feed for 8 weeks) and 8 families received chicks for consumption (10 chicks for each family, with chicken feed for 6 weeks).
The animals were purchased in Perez Zeledón and brought to ASOMOBI driving the van two times. In ASOMOBI the hens and chicks were distributed to the members, who will take care of them at home. Feed was bought from a local store in La Puna (around 5km away from ASOMOBI). Depending on whether they got chicks or laying hens, the socias will receive 69kg or 23kg respectively of special chicken feed. In order to prevent the chicken feed from going bad, we buy it weekly, weigh it and distribute it to the members.
Two members were also given individual support for their families.
In total € 1,250 was used for this first phase.
