Campaign during Coronavirus

German volunteers supporting ASOMOBI’s women and families

In the beginning of 2020, the Coronavirus sparked a worldwide crisis, and it has resulted in a high number of infections, illnesses, and sadly, fatalities. On behalf of ASOMOBI, we offer our sincere condolences to all of those who are struggling or have lost a loved one.

The pandemic has affected many more people due to the global economic crisis. Many people have lost their jobs, temporarily or permanently, and lack of sales has forced some companies to close down.CR_2017-09-28_0033-01

For ASOMOBI, this has meant that the doors to our lodge and restaurant remain closed. Moreover, the coffee roastery has shut down because many regular buyers such as hotels, cafes, restaurants, and tour operations around Costa Rica are also experiencing a drastic decline in customers. This problem will likely persist, and it will probably take many more months for the tourism industry to normalize again.

This time will continue to be very difficult for all the women who have lost income from their work at ASOMOBI and their family members, many of whom have also lost employment due to the crisis.
Waben-5 copiaTo support the women and their families during this challenging time, a donation campaign was started by volunteers from the German organization Bread for the World. Now in its fifth year, this organization sends a volunteer each year to work at ASOMOBI for 11 months. This donation campaign is already being promoted around the world.

The campaign description can be found on the webpage https://www.betterplace.me/asomobi-biolley. You can make a donation right from this page by direct bank transfer, credit card, or PayPal. Volunteers will update the “News” section of this page with additional information about the progress of the project. All texts are in German, Spanish, and English. If you have any questions or concerns, you can email posadacerrobiolley@gmail.com.

We want to thank all the organizers of this project, as well as all of the donors who are supporting us from around the world with contributions, big and small! Blessings!
